This is an animation made by Michelle Dauria. It explores various aspects of life, aspiration and ultimate achievement. Personally, I find the theme here to be kind of sappy, but the animation quality and style is pretty awesome.

(In)visible bike?
nsa01.casimages.com/img/2008/01/24/0801240855502144780.gif
For a few years now, the "invisible bike" image has been popular on the internet. The image depicts a cat in midair, in a strange position, seemingly holding the handlebars of an invisible bike. However, this gif shows the same cat riding an actual bike, through use of photo manipulation.

Perfect Loop
www.inspirefirst.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jamie2.gif
This is a loop created to be a subway moving down the terminal. Because it's a loop, it appears that the subway is endless and that it never stops moving. This is obviously an illusion, however, the loop is seemless, and it's impossible to distinguish its beginning or end, making it a successful loop.

THE END OF THE INTERNET
www.webnme.com/EndoftheInternet.swf
This is a really simple flash piece basically making fun of how often people aimlessly wander the internet. The animation basically just tells the user that they have reached the absolute end of the internet and have seen everything there is to be seen, and at the end it tells them to turn their computer off and do something productive. This piece has no interactive aspect and loops infinitely.

Light Illustration master
www.itchy-animation.co.uk/
This is website/portfolio of a renowned animator who is a complete and utter master of illustrating light in his pieces. He gives a lengthy tutorial on all the different variations of light portrayal in pieces, including indoor vs outdoor lighting, natural vs artificial lighting and light direction. This would be very helpful for an aspiring realistic artist.

Flash rap
evilnine.preloaded.com/
This flash animation shows two people rapping, while the rap is also audible. It shows them walking through a city as traffic, background, weather and various other things change. The rap basically consists of them saying what makes them unable to "get down." An example of a verse would be, "We don't like it when the city fires start spreading, when the fires start spreading then we can't get down." The rappers are portrayed in a very cartoonish and interesting manner.

Guy doing stuff

This is flash art piece that depicts a man, probably the artist in various emotional and physical states. Some show him in moments of despair, one in particular where he rips his own face off after some user interaction. While others show him wearing a mask so that the user cannot perceive his emotions. The piece is called modern living.

Acid Cubes
www.mrdoob.com/lab/PV3D/acid_cubes.html
Through a combination of amazing actionscript coding and Adobe Flash expertise, Acid Cubes was created. There is a single cube in the center of the display and there is an out cube around the entire piece. The inner effect mirrors what is seen behind the cube, which ultimately creates a very aesthetically pleasing effect derived only from the sides and corners of the cube.

Unbelievable 3D Rendering
Dream
The following is a 3D rendering of a campfire in a field, and what appears to be another planet earth approaching the one of which the vantage point is shown. There also appears to be another planet or moon between the two. What particularly catches my eye about this is the quality of the sky and second earth. The clouds show an unbelievable level of realism, and had it not been for the fact that it obviously didn't really happen, I might have thought that everything from the horizon and above was a photograph.

Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting (THDRIBL)
RTHDRIBL
Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting or THDRIBL is a recently developed lighting concept implemented in Direct X 9. It is a system of light formulas that are designed to make the most realistic lighting in a 3D environment as possible. It utilizes many light based concepts that are rarely seen in 3D environments such as, Glare simulation, 3D surface based reflections, and high definition anti-aliasing. These all serve to create what is surely one of the most advanced 3D lighting systems to date. However, as of now, there is not much practical use for this, other than creating stills, as the performance needed to properly run it is so overwhelming that no videogame or any real time rendering wouldn't be realistically possible. However, it's really just a matter of time until a performance jump will allow this to be utilized.

Java art?
I couldn't say that I've ever seen a piece of Java art worth looking at before. However, Color Cycling is just that. By itself, it's an animated image of a series of Asian architecture built along the side of a waterfall, however, when you mouse over the image, various things about it change. Everything from the weather, color intensity, to the context of what is actually happening is affected by the user's mouse.

Daz3d
Another growing art type in our ever changing computer world is 3D art. Its extremely difficult to learn, but it allows the artist to achieve photo realism. Daz3d is an art community for people who do 3D modelling. They provide software, textures, and premade environments for modest prices.
Programmable Art
With the creation of the internet and existence of programming, we enter into an area of art that consists of mathematics and code. While this doesn't seem like art, it is the only method to create a perfect pattern.

Really cool flash based site
Phong
A combination of flash and action scripted physics make this flash site really cool. When mousing over each element of the site, the rest of the site physically reacts and moves to where you move the mouse.

Websketch!
Websketch
Websketch is a flash based drawing application. It is similar to the drawing aspects of photoshop and allows you to relive the time of your drawing by adding a timeline feature, so that when you complete each piece, you can rewind and play, watching exactly how you made each brush stroke. While it is a web app, and limited because of that, it is definitely a noteworthy art toy.

Snow flake designs
Snow day
This is an interesting community art piece. It allows users to create a snowflake design, which can be anything from a simple drawing to a detailed portrait of a face. All created snowflakes are shuffled and pumped into a virtual snowing environment, allowing everyone to experience a great amount of user created content, making this a forever changing art piece.

This is an interesting flash piece where bears are stacked on top of eachother cheerleader style, and when they are moused over, they physically react by falling from the tower to the ground. They also react to other mouse movements as well.

Tribeca Accepts LA Noire as first videogame entry
Recently, the Tribeca film festival has accepted Rockstar games' request to admit their new video game, LA Noire as a valid narrative for the film festival. Over the years, videogames have been widely regarded as a youthful waste of time, however, now it seems that this medium is becoming more and more acceptable as an art form. The game is a 1950s film noir style narrative that pioneers a new facial motion system that makes the facial movements of the ingame characters more lifelike than ever. Each motion capture voice actor is shot by 32 cameras simultaneously in order to capture every minor movement of the face. The developers say that the game is all about being able to tell if you are being lied to, which is why this technology is so necessary for this game.

3D Observable room
www.bravadousa.com/cbgb/pano/pano.html
This is a 360 degree movable observation of (what looks like) an underground club. You can fully rotate the camera and zoom in and out, and you can even go into different rooms in the club. This must have been made using advanced photography concepts or 3D modeling software.
